The Vibralock washer does not loosen from vibration as it is a bolt locking system, which uses modern technology to provide a more reliable locking system.
The Vibralock washer prevents self-loosening of the bolted joint and secures bolts with tension instead of friction, in accordance with DIN 25201. In contrast to conventional locking methods, Vibralock locking technology applies a pre-tensioning force to the joint and creates a wedge effect underneath the bolt head or nut.
The Vibralock wedge washer system consists of two identical flat washers with wedge-shaped cams on one side and radial teeth on the other side. In this way, the pre-tightening force is increased even with a slight twist in the unwinding direction, thus ensuring that the threaded joint remains securely fixed even under high dynamic loads and vibrations.
The difference in angles ensures and explains the efficiency and reliability of the whole system. Since the cam angle “α” is larger than the thread pitch “β”, the pair of wedge-locking washers expand more than the corresponding pitch of the thread creating a wedge effect that blocks any attempt from the bolt or nut to rotate loose.
The effectiveness of Silentflex® wedge washers has been proven in laboratory tests. Vibralock washers have successfully passed the most demanding vibration test for bolted joints – the Junker vibration test (DIN 65151), in which a joint is mounted on a test rig and exposed to a simulated vibration at a right angle to the joint.
